American Career College-Orange County dental assisting students recently participated in a hands-on bootcamp with Pacific Dental Services, gaining valuable real-world experience with digital dentistry tools.
“The overall vibe of the CEREC CAD/CAM bootcamp is dynamic, hands-on, and highly collaborative,” ACC-Orange County Dental Assisting Program Director Gia M. said. “The atmosphere is supportive and focused, yet energizing, as everyone is actively involved in mastering the intricacies of CEREC systems.”
Throughout the event, students developed both foundational and advanced skills, including digital impression techniques, restoration design, and the milling and fabrication process using CEREC technology. The training also covered troubleshooting common challenges and strategies for seamlessly integrating digital workflows into clinical practice.
“Students were very engaged and asked great questions,” Gia said. She noted that while they found the training both exciting and challenging, their confidence and technical skills showed clear improvement by the end of the day.
Faculty members attended alongside their students, offering support, fostering collaboration, and providing guidance throughout the training. Their presence helped ensure that students remained engaged and fully immersed in the hands-on learning experience.
“I hope students walked away with a strong sense of confidence in their ability to use digital dentistry tools effectively,” Gia said.
The CEREC CAD/CAM bootcamp is one of several offered annually at ACC-OC, designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world clinical application and prepare students for success in modern dental practices.
