Surgery is a medical specialty that involves the use of operative manual and instrumental techniques on a patient to treat a pathological condition such as disease or injury, to help improve bodily function or appearance, or another reason. The environment in which these procedures take place is highly controlled to ensure sterility and efficiency and involves a team of healthcare professionals including but not limited to surgeons, surgical technologists, anesthesiologist, and others.
